| Board-Certified Veterinary Oncologists: Carlos O. Rodriguez, Jr., DVM, Ph.D., DACVIM (Oncology) Dr. Carlos Rodriguez attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign for both his undergraduate and veterinary degrees. He completed his internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. He completed his residency in medical oncology at the University of California at Davis. Following his residency, he acquired his PhD in biochemistry at the University of Texas Houston Health Science Center. Dr. Rodriguez is a frequent lecturer on oncology at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at UC Davis. Kathy Andres, DVM, DACVIM (Oncology) Dr. Kathy Andres received her veterinary degree in 2000 from the University of California at Davis, where she earned multiple academic, clinical performance and oncology research awards. In 2001, she completed a one-year internship at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. Here, Dr. Andres was recognized with the annual Human-Animal Bond Award for her gentle approach to pets and their human companions. After returning to Northern California, she practiced as both a general practitioner and emergency doctor for six years. Dr. Andres completed her oncology residency at Bay Area Veterinary Specialists and is board-certified. Her highest priority for patients is improving their quality of life using a combination of treatment modalities such as chemotherapy, while also managing pain and discomfort. |
