Board-Certified Veterinary Oncologists:

Steven Crow, DVM, DACVIM (Oncology)

Dr. Crow knew at a very early age that he wanted to be a veterinarian. After abandoning his hope of being a
major league baseball player, he devoted full effort to reaching his career goal. Steve received his Doctor of
Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis in 1973. After finishing an internship in small
animal medicine and surgery at Colorado State University, he was selected as one of the first veterinary
oncology residents. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Crow served as assistant and associate professor of
internal medicine and oncology at the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine from 1977 to
1988.

He joined Sacramento Animal Medical Group in 1988, and served many years as Director of the Cancer
Treatment Center at VCA Highlands Animal Hospital. Dr. Crow also led the medical oncology team at VCA
Sacramento Veterinary Referral Center from 2007-2012 before accepting a two-year teaching position at
Massey University’s veterinary school in New Zealand. Dr. Crow joined VCA Loomis Basin Veterinary Clinic in
2014 where he receives and treats patients in both internal medicine and oncology.

Dr. Crow is board-certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine and has chaired the
examination committees in both disciplines. He feels truly blessed to work with these special pets and their
owners. He was selected as a Charter Diplomate of the Specialty of Medical Oncology and served as President
of the Veterinary Cancer Society. Dr. Crow has also published more than 40 scientific articles and is co-author
of a textbook, Manual of Clinical Procedures in the Dog, Cat, Rabbit and Rodents
