| Nancy McGuire, DVM, DACVIM (Internal Medicine) Dr. McGuire is a Board Certified Veterinary Internist who joined VCA Southern Maryland Veterinary Referral Center in 2001. Previously, she received her DVM from Iowa State University. After working in private practice for 1 year in New Jersey, she completed an internship at Louisiana State University. During her internship, she assisted in a study on anesthesia in Alligators and wrote a paper on anesthesia and the respiratory physiology of crocodilians. She also published a What’s Your Diagnosis in JAVMA. Upon completion of the internship, Dr. McGuire had a 3 year residency at the University of Illinois. As a residency project, Dr. McGuire performed a retrospective study on the frequency of occult urinary tract infections in diabetes mellitus patients. Dr. McGuire enjoys ultrasound of the abdomen, and both bronchoscopy and GI endoscopy. She is also interested in oncology and has many patients being treated with chemotherapy for lymphoma, Osteosarcoma, and other neoplastic conditions. |
